(Juve legends section)
Michel Platini is one of the modern football most profiled players and considered one of the best. He was an attacking midfielder, a typical number 10 at Juventus for 5 seasons, maybe not long enough to be called a legend, but he had a superb career at Juve and was the best player in that time. Played close to 150 games and scoring 68 goals. He was even top-scorer in Serie A for 3 consecutive seasons in a row!(82-85).
But his arrival from Saint-Étienne to Juventus in 1982 was not exactly trouble free, as he failed to impress and gel in to start with. He was target for critics and was even close to quit after only half a year. But a change in tactics later changed it all, and Platini is today considered one of the best players in the clubs recent history.
Winner of Serie A in 84 & 86. Champions League (Cup Winners Cup) 1984. To mention some of his biggest merits at Juve, together with lots of prestigious prizes he also won.

Claudio Gentile the terminator!
Juventus Legends
"football is not for ballerinas"
Juventus superb collection of legendary defenders just keeps on continuing, this time with the great Claudio Gentile!.
Gentile's best description as a player would probably be to say that he was the toughest and roughest defender ever. Back in the good old days when man marking was the rule rather than zone marking, Gentile ruled, if you got marked by Gentile, you probably would'nt have a good game, to say at least =).
Gentile also made the spotlight by marking/destroying Diego Maradona so intense and rough once, that his clothes were ripping apart.
As a person he was a funny guy, involved in a lot of episodes. For example at a Balon'Dor ceremony were he said to Kevin Keegan, if i was marking you, you wouldn't have won this award!
Claudio Gentile played for Juventus as a central back from 1973-1984, made almost 300 appearances and won five scudettos and one champions league to mention some. He also was a key figure in Italy's world cup winning 82 team, and an excellent CB partner with Scirea in defense.
Claudio Gentile was a one of a kind and a spectacular defender to be remembered for football fans from the 70's and 80's.

Gaetano Scirea the legend
(Juve legends section)
The ultimate king of defenders
Gaetano Scirea is one of the best players Juventus has had. And is regarded by many the number one defender of all time in football, but not always fully "recognized" because of the more quiet personality he had, and didn't expose himself as much as other players. But was truly known for his pure class and intelligence for tactics, also a very fair player (never got sent off!) and a great professional. Deadly effective on the pitch.
His success on the field is simply immense, the simplest way to sum it up is to say that he has won absolutely everything possible with Juventus, and also the FIFA World Cup 1982!.
He played for Italy in more than a decade and kept players like Franco Baresi out until he retired in 86.
Before Scirea moved to Juventus, he played two years in Atalanta (72-74) and after his transfer he stayed with Juve until he retired, which caused him to make 377 appearances and 24 goals for the club, during those 14 years!. Most of that time he played the "old-school" sweeper role. And was Juve captain for a long time with shirt number 6.
Unfortunately his life took a terrible tragic end in a car crash in Poland 1989, (he burned to death inside the car), ..as he was there as a scout for Juve.
But he will always be remembered as the excellent sportman he was, and has had fan-sections of Delle Alpi named after him. A true legend.

Antonio Cabrini

Mr. Left back!
Time for a dedicated post to one of the best left defenders in the history of the game (together with Maldini and Facchetti). "Bell'Antonio" Cabrini played 12 years for Juventus from 1976-1989. Not only did he score 33 goals, but also during those years he won everything a club can win with Juventus, including 6 scudetto's and 1 Champions League to mention some.
He debuted for Italy in the opening match of the WC 1978, and was part of Italy's games in three consecutive World Cup's, including the winning team of 1982. During his national team career he scored 9 goals.
The Juventus all time's best list is long, but Cabrini is certainly at the upper part of the list. And we'll get back to some of the other legends at later occasions.
