Stadio Olimpico Turin

©JUVENTUS BLOG 2008
This stadium was first built back in 1933, and finished for the 1934 World Cup. It originally held 65.000 spectators, and it was known for a fantastic atmosphere, most people would stand.
The first name for it was Stadio Mussolini, but it was renamed after WWII to Stadio Comunale, as most known it by, also the home venue for Juventus and Torino for many years, Juventus has won most of their trophies here, all the way until the opening of Stadio Delle Alpi in 1990. And Torino with the "Grande Torino" squad who later died in a airplane disaster.
So you could say historically this is the heart of the Italian football superpowers, as Juventus is the most successful club in Italy, and Torino historically the fourth most successful italian club.
Italy's national team has also played many famous games here, like against England in the 60's, which ended with riot in the streets.

During its existence the stadium has been renewed a couple of times, (1989, 2005-06) And was closed several years (Torino played at Delle Alpi) before it was used again for the opening and closing ceremony of the winter olympics in 2006. Today it has a beautiful park surrounding it, a fine place to go and relax. And with a placement not far from the centre of the city.
When it comes to watching football, i most say this stadium is better than Delle Alpi, but not as spectacularly huge as the Delle Alpi though.

Some concerts held here:
Bob Marley
Dire Straits
Pink Floyd
Bruce Springsteen
